EDUCATION THROUGH MEDIA
Strategies, opportunities, tying, and more!
Explore the sport of fly fishing through articles and videos that aim to arm anglers with tips, tricks, and observations that stem from real, on-water experiences. Assembled here are many pieces that have appeared in various print and digital media outlets like Flyfisherman.com, Flylords, The Drake Magazine, American Fly Fishing Magazine, and more. They cover a wide variety of species and topics, highlighting some of the most exciting angling opportunities we have in fresh water.
GUIDED FLY FISHING
The Great Lakes are the world’s largest freshwater system, providing habitat for a wide range of exciting and challenging species of game fish. Along the southern shores of Lake Erie, steelhead and smallmouth bass draw massive attention from fly anglers - and for good reason.
A limited number of guided fly fishing trips are available for both smallmouth and steelhead in Lake Erie, its many tributaries, and select inland waterways. Get in touch and plan your day on the water with a licensed and insured guide.
FLY FISHING INSTRUCTION
Fly fishing really is for everyone, and its actually not that difficult once you understand a few principles. We can work on single hand casting or two-hand spey casts to help you get started with functional fly casting that will put your flies in the zone. An hour-long casting lesson can go a long way toward helping you achieve your angling goals. We all have to start somewhere!

I’m a fly fishing writer, tyer, educator, and guide based in Cleveland, Ohio.
I’ve chased warm and cold water species throughout the Great Lakes for over a decade, leading excursions for local clubs, writing for fly fishing publications, and providing fly tying instruction along the way.
I started out prowling our local rivers with a spinning rod and gravitated more toward fly fishing over time. Both are excellent ways to get up close and personal with the many incredible species we are so fortunate to have in our local waters.
Are you just getting started in fly fishing? Let’s discuss the basics of equipment and casting to get you in the game.
Have some experience, but want to check out specific techniques, locations, or species? Let’s get on the water and break down the opportunities and tactics at your disposal.
Fly fishing is for everyone, and our region offers some incredible opportunities for those who know where to look. The world is yours to explore.

WELCOME TO NORTHEAST OHIO ANGLING
Fly fishing is for everyone. It’s not about expensive gear or big attitudes. It’s about exploring and immersing oneself in the natural world. It can be as peaceful as a brook trout sipping dries, and as chaotic as a musky destroying a 14-inch hollow fly. It’s a golden mail-clad carp ripping drag like a freight train, a chrome steelhead blasting through the surface on acrobatic jumps, and a pissed off smallmouth smashing swim flies in full war paint.
It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s something we should all experience.
