Shanked Peanut

$7.50

The Circus Peanut was originally designed and tied by Russ Maddin in Traverse City, Michigan in the late 1990’s. It was the first articulated streamer, and its caught fish all over the world.

The Shanked Peanut is essentially a Circus Peanut with a modified connection - incorporating a middle shank to bridge the gap between the front and rear hooks instead of the traditional monofilament and bead connection. Adding a shank in the middle adds a second hinge-point to the mid section of the fly, increasing its swimming action and creating a super durable pattern.

The shanked peanut has caught smallmouth and largemouth bass in lakes rivers and streams throughout the Midwest. Its caught Great Lakes steelhead and migratory brown trout, lake trout in addition to the jumbo Coaster Brook Trout of Lake Superior. Its caught pike, rock bass, and freshwater drum in still and moving water. Its a super versatile fly that is in my box no matter where I’m fishing.
